- I purchased this book as I have a student who is following the AQA Additional SCience course at school. I assumed that the book contains all that is necessary to gain an A* in the forthcoming examination but it is rather light on explanation compared with older style text books. I also teach IGCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics and know that the appropriate single subject books cover matters in greater depth.
The student has a different text book, provided by the school, also appropriate to the course. This book does seem to give more in the way of explanation. So, while the text under review is attractive in appearance and the material is presented in 'gobbets',I feel that it would not prepare a student fully to gain the highest grade at GCSE without further input via the teaching staff or other, fuller, texts.
